It is located off I-5 in the beautiful Umpqua Basin in Douglas County. It is 40 miles south of Eugene and 30 miles north of Roseburg, the county seat. The city of Eugene provides excellent shopping centers and other amenities that a large city provides. There are also many post secondary-training opportunities with Umpqua Community College in Roseburg and Lane Community College located in Eugene, which is also the home of the University of Oregon. The economy in Yoncalla is based on lumber related industries and ranching. There are many churches and several service organizations. There are many recreational opportunities in the area. The Oregon coast is a short 50-mile drive. The area abounds with excellent outdoor opportunities. Our High School / Middle School: Yoncalla High School / Middle School has approximately 110 students in grades 7-12. Parents, students, and teachers are pleased that students receive personal attention because the average class size is fewer than 20 students. Outside of the core classes of English, Science, Math, and History the school also Culinary Arts, Natural Resources, Physical Education, Spanish I and II, and a wide variety of shop classes such as Welding, Woods, Electrothon Car, Manufacturing, and Robotics. Credit Recovery classes are offered through an online program called Edmentum. The high school also has on campus college credit opportunities in Math, Fire Science, Natural Resources, Biology, and English. We also partner with Umpqua Community College to offer students on campus and online college courses offerings. These include our Expanded Options Program and UCC's Career Academy. Extracurricular Activities enrich the curriculum of the school by making available a variety of activities in which students may participate. Students have the opportunity to join the following clubs: FNRL (Future Natural Resource Leaders), Leadership, National Honor Society, and others. Yoncalla High School participates in the Skyline Conference, both athletically and scholastically, as a 1A school. YHS Core Values: "Respect. Integrity. Perseverance.
