McKinney-Vento Program

Yoncalla School District is dedicated to supporting students and families experiencing homelessness through the McKinney-Vento Act, ensuring equal access to education and removing barriers to academic success.

Program Overview

The McKinney-Vento program provides transportation to the school of origin, immediate enrollment without required documents, and access to free school meals, supplies, and counseling services. Our liaisons collaborate with families to identify needs and connect them to community resources like housing assistance and affordable healthcare.

Key Services

  • Immediate enrollment for students in temporary living situations (shelters, motels, cars, or doubled-up housing).

  • Priority placement in before/after-school care and extracurricular activities.

  • Ongoing case management to track progress and address academic or attendance challenges.

Family Support

Contact our district McKinney-Vento liaison at any time to discuss eligibility, request transportation, or access help. We maintain confidentiality and work year-round to help students thrive regardless of housing status.
