Yoncalla School District offers a comprehensive Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program tailored to address the distinct academic, social, and emotional needs of qualifying students. We recognize exceptional talent through our TAG Program, delivering customized acceleration, enrichment, and peer collaboration to spark academic excellence and social-emotional growth in qualifying students.
Program Overview
Classroom teachers serve as the main educators for TAG students, delivering core instruction while incorporating acceleration in pace and depth as needed. Students also connect with peers of similar abilities through flexible grouping options that vary by school and building priorities. Our program emphasizes holistic development by addressing not just academics but also social-emotional growth through targeted activities like project-based challenges and mentorship opportunities.
Parent Engagement
Families play a key role by providing input during fall and spring conferences—or by requesting individual meetings anytime—to help craft personalized learning plans. These plans outline specific adjustments to curriculum level, pace, and enrichment activities to best support each student.
Identification Process
TAG eligibility is determined through a combination of teacher referrals, parent nominations, and performance on standardized achievement tests or intellectual assessments. This ensures services align with demonstrated abilities and individual strengths.
