Culinary Arts

Yoncalla School District offers an exciting Culinary Arts program that explores nutrition, kitchen basics, safe food preparation, global cuisine, and creativity for students across grade levels.

Program Highlights

Students dive into hands-on cooking with activities like preparing homemade pizza, pasta, breads, empanadas, pasta, omelets, biscuits, granola, and seasonal breads—often using fresh ingredients from the school garden, such as homegrown garlic and corn. The program emphasizes kitchen safety, earning food handler's permits, and setting up professional grade spaces.

Benefits and Opportunities

Participation boosts teamwork, nutrition awareness, and confidence in the kitchen, preparing students for hobbies, careers, or family meal prep. All students earn their food handler's card, and students have the chance to compete as part of the ProStart program.
